The Asian Mayors Forum (AMF) has officially selected Kermanshah, located in Iranian Kurdistan, as the Cultural Capital of Asian Cities for 2025.

According to Nader Newrozi, Mayor of Kermanshah, the decision was based on extensive research and studies conducted by the AMF Secretariat, which highlighted the city's rich intellectual and cultural heritage.

The selection also considered the numerous cultural and intellectual events held in Kermanshah over the past year, as reported by Iran’s IRNA news agency.

Newrozi described the designation as a great honor for the city. As the largest Kurdish city in Iranian Kurdistan, Kermanshah boasts over 4,000 historical sites and is renowned for its diverse cultural landscape, making it a significant center of heritage and tradition in the region.
